We All Rise is a proud collaborator of the upcoming Inclusion of People with Disabilities Community Conversation. Huge thanks to Emerging Abilities for making this conversation possible and our other collaborators, Grounded Cafe, Innovative Services Inc, Options for Independent Living, and Curative Connections.
Why is this conversation important to us? Studies have shown that people of color with disabilities are often more likely to face discrimination and barriers to accessing necessary resources than their white counterparts with disabilities. This can include difficulties in obtaining employment, housing, healthcare, and education. Additionally, the experiences of people of color with disabilities are often overlooked or marginalized in conversations about disability rights. It is important to recognize the ways in which systemic racism and ableism intersect and to work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all individuals, regardless of race or ability.
The purpose of the conversation is to create more opportunities in the areas of employment, recreation, entrepreneurship and independent living to name a few. Please join us and bring a friend to share your thoughts about meaningful inclusion of people with disabilities in our communities. At the conversation you can:
Hear what people with disabilities are saying about inclusion in their community
Share your ideas about creating more inclusion opportunities for people with disabilities
