Thanks to our incredible 2022 Leadership Green Bay group project, "Youth Room Renovation-Building Inclusive Spaces that Empower", we were able to reimagine the use and design of two youth rooms at our agency. We are partnering with CJ & Associates, Inc. to design and remodel the space.
The space slated for remodeling is heavily used for youth and community-based programming where students come together to study and do homework, adults and families engage in programming, community education workshops, and parent/child playgroups, and it also provides a safe space for children while adults are receiving services. The renovation will include the removal of walls and a drop ceiling, closing unused doorways, removal of paneling, updates to wiring for lighting, redesigning an unused entryway, removing old carpeting, fresh paint, and bathroom updates. The addition of new stackable chairs, nesting tables, shelving, and storage will provide an opportunity to rearrange the space for multiple purposes. Updated paint colors and installation of culturally appropriate artwork will create a space that is welcoming and culturally representative of the clients that come to the resource center. We believe that creating a culturally representative space will communicate belonging, validate the lived and historical experiences of others, and encourage meaningful engagement. welcoming and culturally representative space for
